“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” – Carl Jung

Hi! I’m Michelle, a graduate student at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette studying Clinical Mental Health. Before I began pursuing a degree in counseling, I was a high school English teacher for four years. I loved connecting and working with teenagers, but discovered I was much more invested in how my students felt, rather than dredging on about Shakespeare. Turns out, I was the one with lessons to learn! Leaving teaching left me with a bit of an identity crisis. I struggled more than ever with anxiety, depression and felt completely at a loss for what I was supposed to be doing with my life. Through developing my spirituality, finally coming out of the closet, and investing in my own therapy, I have spent a lot of time over the last few years really getting to know myself for who I am- not who I am “supposed to be.

A little about my interests: I love writing poetry, going to shows, advocating for the LGBTQ+ community, meditating, dancing, and looking at the moon. I guess you could say I am a bit of a free spirit! I have a deep passion for self-actualization and helping others get to know themselves on a deeper level. I am committed to creating a non-judgemental, safe space for my clients to face off the darkest parts of themselves and work through things that might be scary or overwhelming on their own. I promise to meet you where you are, help you find the edges of your discomfort, and meet the world from a new perspective.

I work from a Jungian, Family Systems, and Person-Centered orientation- which simply means let’s get curious about the role you play in your life and how to change the script! I believe that you are the best expert in how your life should go, and I am here to support you along the way. I am hopeful that through our working relationship I can give you courage and therapeutic tools to help navigate the winding road. I love to work with adolescents, adults, and members of the LGBTQ+ community with anxiety, depression, life-transitions, boundary-setting, and self-exploration. I look forward to helping in any way that I can and am sending you boundless grace and patience with yourself.
