“Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you are going.” – Noam Shpancer.
Hey there! My name is Taylor and these things are always awkward to write, but here we go! I am a clinical social worker, a proud bonus mom to a smart, talented, and beautiful teen, and a devoted partner to a kind, intelligent, and amazing home chef of a man.
Since graduating with my M.S. in Social Work, from the University of Southern California, I have spent my career behind bars. Wait, what? Yes, I have been focused on providing mental health care to incarcerated individuals. Over the years, I have had the honor of assisting some of the most hardened souls relearn how to “drive” and figure out where they really want to go in life. I have learned from my clients that even when we “think” we know what our destination is, we will not always know our final destination, nor what we will encounter along the way; but if we can relearn how to drive and problem solve unexpected hurdles, we can navigate life safely with the freedom of acceptance.
I am embarking on my own new chapter in life, byway of private practice. When we choose to work together, you may dread coming to some of our sessions, you may dislike what comes out of my mouth at times, but in the end we will learn how to work through the mental, “flat tires, road hazards, wrong turns, unexpected traffic jams” of your mental health process to create a beautiful road trip to your final destination. I look forward to being a part of your journey.
