    Zach Smith, PLPC

Hey there! I’m Zachary. My passion is helping people who feel stuck get unstuck, and guiding them in living meaningful and intentional lives. The experiences we have had can leave us feeling paralyzed, directionless, and confused—I want to help you get moving again. Whether you struggle with social anxiety, grief, relationships, religious trauma, or anything else you might feel stuck with, I want to help.

My clients appreciate that I am gentle and compassionate, but also honest and direct. My goal is to help you identify problems and patterns, help you adapt to your world in a flexible and open way, and explore with you the deepest parts of your self and the way you see the world. I do this kind of work with adults, older teens, couples, and families.

I look forward to working together to address your specific needs and goals! It would be an honor to explore with you and assist you in becoming more grounded and present in your world.

I’m an integrative therapist, which means I take a unique approach by pulling from many different theories of counseling. Here are some different approaches I use and positions I take:

    • Family systems — Leveraging the power of interpersonal relationships to create change, examining the impact of families, and working with partners and families to help facilitate growth.
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy — Radically embracing thoughts and experiences and committing to live a life aligned with values.
    • Existential psychotherapy — Searching for meaning in order to enrich life and bring about a personal, meaning-based definition of wellness.
    • Multicultural and feminist counseling — Embracing diversity and seeking to understand the unique challenges and lived experiences by individuals from various cultural backgrounds and positionalities, including but not limited to: disabled individuals, people of color, LGBTQ+ community, and indigenous and native groups.
    • Body-positivity, body-neutrality, and health-at-every-size (HAES) — Approaching diet and exercise from a perspective of what will help the client achieve wellness and inviting clients to embrace and accept their bodies as they exist now.
    • Trauma-informed care — recognizing the impact of trauma on clients’ lives and relationships and taking care to prioritize regulation and avoid retraumatization in the therapy room.
