Sarah Laborde, PLPC
Hey there! I’m Sarah- a counselor that uses creativity and play therapy with all ages and stages! I work with kids as young as 2.5 years old, teens, and young adults. No matter the age, I create a relaxed, come-as-you-are space (shoes are optional, snacks are encouraged) where we focus on growth, self-awareness, and building tools to help you thrive.
I believe that when we sometimes are at a loss for words for how we’re feeling, creativity can form a bridge between our inner world and our external one, allowing us to communicate on a deeper level.
Whether that be using metaphors in talk therapy, creating sand trays, or utilizing child-centered play therapy- I love it all! However, I do cater my approach to each client’s unique needs.
I thrive when working with young children- specifically in areas like anxiety related issues, attachment related issues, emotional regulation, and behavioral concerns. I take a child centered approach to support their natural development, and I incorporate creative interventions when appropriate. I value working with the people who support your child; whether that be family members, schools, daycare providers, pediatricians, or other professionals.
I also am passionate about working with teenage girls and young women. We tend to just click! I frequently work with self esteem, life transitions, relationships, identity, women’s issues, and spirituality. Nothing is too big, too small, or too weird – this is a space where everything is welcome!
I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Psychology and obtained my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am also working towards obtaining my Registered Play Therapist credential.
Whether you’re seeking counseling for yourself or your child, I’m happy you’re here 🙂
